Summary of Specifications:
On September 15, 1999, the federal Department of Housing & Urban Development issued Rule 24 CFR Part 35, in order "to ensure that housing receiving Federal assistance, and Federally-owned housing that is to be sold, does not pose lead-based paint hazards to young children". The Rule contains specific requirements for the detedtion, maintenance, and removal of lead-based paint for most properties receiving funds from HUD. Different properties incur different requirements, according to the type and amount of funding they receive.
