Sealed bid for BID NO. COB_2021_003 – General Construction will be received by the City of Beacon in City Hall at One Municipal Plaza, Beacon, New York, until 10:00 a.m. on June 8, 2021 and then at said office publicly opened and read aloud. Bids are requested for:

BID NO. COB_2021_003 - GENERAL CONSTRUCTION
For Pocket Dam, the Contractor shall: remove 1-foot of concrete and then raise the non-overflow section to EL. 429.2' and replace the foot of concrete to the spillway. The Contractor will remove the remaining deteriorated concrete from the downstream face, clear debris from the downstream channel and repoint the downstream face of the dam. The Contractor will add (2) electrical conduits into the concrete from the pump house to the new valve platform. The Contractor will add 1.5 feet of concrete to the upstream surface of the entire dam, tying into bedrock. A fall protection system will be installed, and valve operating platform will be replaced by the Contractor. Lastly, the Contractor will raise & replace the pump house door and remove and replace fencing.
For Mount Beacon Reservoir Dam, the Contractor will remove all shotcrete and loose or deteriorated concrete to/from the downstream face and crest of the dam, spillway, training walls and buttresses down to the base of the entire dam. The Contractor will remove 1-foot of concrete from the crest of the spillway and 6-inches from the upstream face down to EL. 1282.0'. The Contractor will remove the south spillway channel wall connecting to the gatehouse and install drainage channels and piping in the downstream face to connect the existing drainage pipes to the new draining system at the toe of the dam. The Contractor will route the piping for the drainage system to run to a new weir box and then through the northern most spillway channel wall before the culvert under the access road.
The Contractor will replace the 1-foot of concrete and 6-inch layer to the spillway and raise the non- overflow sections to EL. 1288.5', build a new spillway channel wall to the gatehouse, remove and install a new valve platform. The Contractor will install a new fall protection system, extend the dam 19-feet on the southern end and 22-feet on the northern end, add a 6-inch concrete layer to the existing buttresses, excavate the gatehouse floor and remove the existing downstream 18-inch gate valve. The Contractor will install (2) new pipe saddles, install a new 18-inch butterfly valve with extended bonnet and install a new removable steel platform floor in the gatehouse. A new shotcrete surface layer will be placed on all spillway channel walls and the downstream face of the dam will. The Contractor will install a new 8-inch tap on the 18-inch C.I.P. before the gate house and install piping to a 4ft diameter manhole that will contain a flow meter. The Contractor will then install piping with the discharge passing through the spillway channel wall just north of the gatehouse.
A pre-bid conference will be held on May 20, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the project site(s) located off Main Street in Beacon, New York. Representatives of the Owner and Engineer will be present to discuss the project. Bidders are encouraged to attend and participate in the conference.
