RFP-PLA03-13 - ADA Paratransit Services for the Newburgh and Middletown Areas

Summary of Specifications:
The County of Orange seeks proposals from qualified firms for the provision of ADA Paratransit Services in and around the Cities of Newburgh and Middletown. The County Planning Department will oversee the service. The County will provide the primary ADA Paratransit vehicles for use by the operator. The operator must provide at least one suitable spare vehicle for each service area. 

Complementary ADA Paratransit Service is a requirement stemming from the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and related regulations, which read in part: "...each public entity operating a fixed-route system shall provide paratransit or other special service to individuals with disabilities that is comparable to the level of service provided to individuals without disabilities who use the fixed route system." The County has had ADA paratransit service for the Newburgh area and Middletown area transit services since 1996. Paratransit Service is available to all paratransit-eligible riders whose trips have an origin and a destination within three-quarters of a mile on either side of the local routes operated in those areas.
