RFP-DSS1-10 - Batterers Intervention Program

Summary of Specifications:
The Orange County Department of Social Services (DSS) is hereby announcing its intent to contract for a Batterers Intervention Program. A batterer is an individual who uses physical, psychological, or sexual abuse to gain or maintain control over a person, including a spouse, cohabitant, or someone who has or had a dating or engagement relationship with the abuser. The Batterers Intervention Program seeks to eliminate these behaviors in collaboration with the Courts, Probation, the DSS or other invested parties. The Orange County Department of Mental Health has historically funded Batters Intervention Program in the County of Orange. In the fiscal year 2010, the funds for the program’s operation were transferred from the Department of Mental Health to the Department of Social Services (DSS). With the transfer of the funds and the responsibility to operate the program under the auspices of the DSS, this request for proposals has been published to award the program funds under a competitive process.
