The County of Orange (County), NY is seeking a fully approved and licensed hazardous waste management Vendor to receive, package, manifest, load, transport, and properly dispose of hazardous waste generated by residents and conditionally exempt small quantity generators (CESQG) such as businesses, schools, farms, and municipalities, located in Orange County. The County, under anticipated approval of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, is planning four (4) Emergency Hazardous Waste Collection Events in 2020. These events are of urgent nature due to the cancelation of six events in 2020 as a result of COVID-19. The County anticipates being back on its regular eight (8) event hazardous waste schedule in 2021. The status of these events is currently pending, with an RFB posted at the time of publication of this RFQ, and due on 12/2/2020.
As with the County’s traditional hazardous waste events, these emergency events are grouped in two pairs over a Friday and Saturday. In 2020, the County plans events at two different locations in Orange County. The objective is to provide cost-effective, convenient and environmentally sound disposal opportunities for the disposal of hazardous waste for waste generators based in Orange County. Friday events are for CESQGs, who are schools, farms, municipal governments, businesses, and various departments of Orange County Government. Saturday events are for Orange County residents with residential quantities of materials.
