The County of Orange (County) Department of Mental Health (OCDMH) announces this new Request for Proposals (RFP) for the development and operation of the following Prevention Services:
There is $85,123 (Annualized $102,148) available as of March 1, 2015 for Prevention Services for an identified at risk population using and/or abusing substances to include alcohol, marijuana and/or opiates. All responses should incorporate a Welcome Orange philosophy (WELCOME Orange is committed to providing a hopeful, welcoming, person-centered approach to meet individual needs by collaborating and connecting them to resources for healthy living that lead to achieving their desired goals), be embedded in evidenced-based programing (EBP) and/or evidence-based programs and strategies (EBPS), address a problem area identified by correlating local, state, and/or national data , and be outcome-based. Identifying local risk and protective factors, and selecting EBP/EBPS, which are both appropriate and culturally relevant, fosters effective programming and increases the likelihood of positive outcomes in accomplishing the following New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) objectives:
• Reduce the prevalence of alcohol and substance abuse, and problem gambling in the NYS population; • Delay the initiation of alcohol and substance, and problem gambling among youth as long as possible; • Decrease the negative health, social, educational, and economic consequences and costs associated with alcohol and substance abuse, and problem gambling; and • Prevent the escalation of alcohol and substance use/abuse, and problem gambling behaviors to levels requiring treatment through early identification, brief intervention and referral to treatment
