Summary of Specifications:
NATURE OF PROJECT: The Boring Contractor shall perform the following: • Perform augur borings along the proposed water main project route at 100-foot intervals* • Perform geoprobes along the proposed water main project route at the following locations*: o at 100-foot intervals, located midway between the proposed boring locations o at the locations specified in the Agreement in situations where rock is encountered at the proposed augur boring locations • Perform split-spoon sampling along the proposed water main project route at 500-foot intervals. • Obtain the necessary permits as specified in the Agreement • Provide the necessary Maintenance and Protection of Traffic as specified in the Agreement *as noted on the plans or as indicated by Engineer/Owner’s Representative The Boring Contractor will also be responsible for preparing a report containing the following: • Drawing(s) showing the as-bored location of all borings/geoprobes/split-spoon sampling and excavations, with dimensions in relationship to plan locations • All data collected during the subsurface investigation recorded into boring logs or excavation profiles, indicated ground water levels encountered, in accordance with applicable ASTM standards, and referenced by boring or excavation number. The presence of potentially expansive, deleterious, chemically active or corrosive materials or conditions, or potentially hazardous gases, if obvious to the field personnel by odor or as a result of visual observation will be included in the boring logs/excavation profiles. • A chart illustrating the soil classification criteria and the terminology and symbols used on the boring logs/excavation profiles • A description of the existing surface and estimated subsurface conditions shall be provided • Subsurface profiles of rock or other bearing stratum • Discussion of potential variations in elevations and movements of subsurface water due to seasonal influence
