It is the purpose of these specifications to provide manufactured aggregate materials for highway
projects, conforming to the specifications herein, furnished and delivered for use by Essex County and its
various Political Subdivisions on roadways throughout Essex County.
All materials furnished under these specifications shall be in conformance with the Standard Specifications for Construction and Materials of the New York State Department of Transportation, January 1, 2021[1], and all addenda thereto; unless the same are modified by the Essex County Superintendent of Public Works or his authorized representative (ECDPW). The furnished aggregate shall be a well-graded manufactured material and meet or exceed sieve specifications for both the type 2 and type 4 aggregate. All stone used in manufacturing shall be angular in shape; to provide the best material cohesiveness.
[1]Although these specifications are in metric, bids shall be submitted in English units. The specifications contain a conversion chart between these two systems and is available at the Essex County Department of Public Works.
