RFP-22-16 - Real Property Auction Services - Bureau of Finance

Rensselaer County is currently accepting written proposals for Auction Services for sale of real property during a contract period that may span a period of up to five (5) years. The County of Rensselaer routinely forecloses on real estate with delinquent taxes in accordance with New York State Real Property Tax Law. This RFP will be used to select a firm to assist the County with all auctions held during the 2022, 2023 and 2024 calendar years. The award may be extended for an additional two years if mutually agreed. The number of parcels to be sold at each individual auction is currently unknown. Generally, the County has held one auction per year during the summer months. Property is sold at auction to the highest responsible bidder. The County Legislature grants the Chief Fiscal Officer authority to sell properties at auction. It is generally the County’s policy to sell the properties as soon as reasonably possible after taking title. The County is requesting proposals from qualified firms to market and auction the properties.
