SCOPE OF SERVICES

The consultant shall perform the following services in a manner satisfactory to the District’s Authorized Agent:

• Weekly meetings with the Sr. Director of Employee Benefits to review medical related questions. Generally, the topics discussed would be related to unique disability accommodation requests and request for Catastrophic Leave. Catastrophic leave is available to employees if they have an illness or injury that makes it unlikely they can return to work and the District Physician provides advice and guidance related to typical or general expectations associated with the medical condition the employee has.
• Providing a professional medical assessment on individuals with extended Assault leaves. When an employee is unable to work due to an assault sustained at work, they are eligible for full pay. The District’s Physician is asked to evaluate the medical records every 6 months and confirm to the District that he/she believes the employee remains unable to work due to the assault. Once a determination is made, provide the District with a detailed summary of their professional medical opinion.
  • It is important to note that the District Physician providing an opinion on the Assault claim cannot be the employee’s treating physician. Therefore, the successful bidder will need to be willing to decline to treat any District employee who has a Workers’ Compensation claim for assault.
• Evaluate, or direct the evaluation, of staff members who need a Fitness for Duty evaluation completed. This should include the ability to assess and evaluate employees, refer employees to other providers if more detailed evaluation is required by someone in a different specialty, ordering of diagnostic testing as necessary, and then providing the District with a detailed summary of findings and an opinion of the individual’s Fitness for Duty in the position.
• Other periodic medical advice may be requested. For example, guidance on best practices if there is another pandemic.
