The Rochester City School District (RCSD) is seeking Proposals for an agency to provide, coordinate, manage, supervise and medically oversee Licensed Practical Nurses for individual students who require individual medical care in school, based on their Individual Education Plan.
The RCSD is looking for an agency to manage the delivery of professional, and cost effective continuous school health services on an as-needed basis, delivered by Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), as outlined in the students medical care plan and mandated by the Individualized Education Plan. The services are required for the provision of a Free and Appropriate Public Education and to enable the students to access their educational program. As such, the services are only required for the school day that the student attends, and according to the number of hours that constitute said school day as indicated in the student’s Individualized Educational Plan. Where the assigned or dispatched LPN does not provide services either on any particular school day (as indicated on the IEP), or where the student does not attend school, AND the LPN remains with the child to provide private duty care in the home, the District will not be fiscally responsible for time expended by the Nurse. The Agency must make every effort to hire the current private duty nurses who have worked with these students to date, in order to provide the best possible opportunity for continuity of care. We would also expect the agency to offer a comparable hourly salary to what these nurses currently earn as Medicaid Private Duty Nurses.
