Transplant to Wilson Bay reefs, 5,200 Oyster Catcher Tufts, each seeded with 100 oyster spat 4 - 6 months of age The seeded Tufts will be placed in plastic mesh bags and transported by vendor staff to a land based storage area where the oysters will be rinsed with fresh water to removed sediments and small mobile invertebrates. The freshwater rinse and subsequent desiccation will not harm the oysters.
Oyster coated Tufts will be transported to shore at a pre-determined day and time set by CoJ staff for pickup at the UNC Institute of Marine Sciences. Once at Sturgeon City on Wilson Bay, vendor staff will transport to and deploy the Oyster coated Tufts on the bay’s rock reefs as directed by CoJ staff.
