The municipalities located on Aquidneck Island are developing a regional, multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) for its three (3) communities, being Newport, Middletown, and Portsmouth with the assistance of the Aquidneck Island Regional Resilience Coordinator. The HMP will address regional natural hazards and strategies for resilience in the face of natural disasters and climate change. The product will be a consolidated regional, multijurisdictional HMP to be adopted by each Aquidneck Island municipality and approved by RIEMA and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
