INTRODUCTION
The City of Fredericksburg is seeking proposals from qualified architectural and engineering firms to design and prepare construction drawings for a Police Department, Police Warehouse and a Municipal Court. As part of the proposal, firms are asked to submit a statement of qualifications, including their experience in Police and Courtroom planning and reference information for other municipal projects of similar size and scope that have involved their respective firms. Considerations should be made for all phases of architectural and engineering services, site master planning and construction cost estimations.
DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
The City of Fredericksburg is planning to build facilities to house the police department, equipment and the municipal Court. The police department and municipal court will be housed in the same facility but will be separated by a training/conference room with the police department, conference room, and court each having their own entrance. The courtroom will likely be utilized for the purpose of holding court as well as conducting City Council meetings. The police department is anticipated to be between 12,000 to 15,000 square feet while the municipal court is anticipated to be 5,600 square feet.
The police warehouse will be a separate facility and is anticipated to be about 8,000 square feet with approximately 1/3 of this being conditioned space.
All Site work associated with parking, utilities, water quality and drainage will be included in the design of this facility with visitor parking in the front and secure rear parking for city vehicles and staff. The intended site for both facilities will be situated on approximately 6.5 acres.
