The San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) possesses several vacant lots, vacant buildings, closed schools and several administrative buildings that are being considered for sale, lease or exchange to reduce surplus property, consolidate and reduce cost of operations, increase efficiencies, generate additional funding, increase opportunities for housing within SAISD, engage in joint ventures with other public or private entities, and improve community services. SAISD may also require acquisition of real estate to provide additional property for existing or new schools or District facilities.
